HMSHost International wins Frontier Award for best F&B partnership

Schiphol, October 19 2018 – HMSHost International together with Portland Design won the Best Food & Beverage Partnership Award for its Lounge 1 Food Court at the Frontier Awards in Cannes last week during the TFWA annual exhibition and trade fair.

The partnership which beat five other shortlisted entries was selected by the judges for the following reasons: The judges described this entry as a spectacular F&B Partnership. The result shows good spend per passenger growth in F&B working alongside good quality and mix of brands. Not only this, but guest feedback shows a great reception to the result benefitting all partners involved.

HMSHost opened the new, revamped and expanded Lounge 1 Food Court at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in Summer 2017. Given the growing importance of F&B within the airport environment and as a key part of the passenger experience, it was important to optimise and expand the existing offer.

The new and improved food court offers an eclectic blend of brands (LEON, Burger King, La Place, Two Tigers and The Bar), inspired by the lively character of street food and market places. Although all F&B locations seamlessly fit the ambiance of the overall food court, every F&B location has a unique brand personality, offering selected dishes from different cuisines. The high-quality offering is fast, fresh and healthy.

Walter Seib, CEO of HMSHost International, commented; “Since the opening last year the new food court is exceeding our expectations. We have realized 30% more transactions compared to last year. The open and transparent atmosphere, the diverse range of food items from healthy to indulgence, combined with the extended seating area ensure that travellers will enjoy Schiphol to the full before taking off.”

Walter Seib continues: “Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and HMSHost are in entirely different lines of business: travel and food & beverages. Still, a partnership could not feel more natural than this, despite the differences in the each of their businesses. Both companies share so many interests and ambitions. It goes without saying that Schiphol is, first and foremost, a transport hub. However, F&B facilities and a pleasant environment are crucial to how travellers perceive their journey. We create places that enrich the dynamics of daily life at high traffic locations. With welcoming locations where passengers feel at home and where they find exactly what they need at that very moment. We boost business by creating places people love to be. Portland Design understood our vision and objectives and played a key role in helping us to deliver this award-winning F&B environment.”
