HMSHost International recognised for CSR, Health-Centred Concept, F&B Team Members and Airport Chef at the 2019 FAB Awards

Schiphol, 28 June 2019 – The Moodie Davitt Report, through its 2019 Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards, recognized global restaurateur HMSHost International with two regional awards for business initiatives and three highly commended nominations for its associates. The FAB Awards recognize and reward best practices in airport food & beverage industry.

“The unique restaurants we create, and the brands we are able to partner with, turn dining into a culinary journey for travellers,” said Walter Seib, CEO of HMSHost International. “But we are extremely proud that three of our associates are honoured at these prestigious FAB Awards. The associates of HMSHost International are the real heroes behind our company’s success story, underlining the value that they bring to our company. Therefore we are particular proud that three of our colleagues have been acknowledged by such an honour.”

In addition to these awards, HMSHost’s parent company Autogrill was recognized by winning Outstanding Design with AIR in Zurich Airport, and HMSHost Corporate in North America was recognized with six nominations across regional wins and highly commended levels.

Prizes in 2019

HMSHost International named as regional winner (Europe) in the category Airport Health-Centred or Vegan Offer of the Year with VIT at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. In today’s busy world, the desire to consume healthier food is increasing. Travellers are no exception to this trend, and so airports must meet this need by providing more nutritious food solutions than ever before. For this reason, HMSHost developed VIT to shine the spotlight on a holistic approach to healthy food and drinks that are served fast. Menu items are either made on demand with fresh ingredients, or available in a grab-and-go format made that same day, giving our guests the opportunity to maintain their healthy eating habits even while on the go.

HMSHost International named as regional winner (APAC) in the category Environmental Initiative of the Year with BIOCups & BYO Cups at Cairns Airport. Disposable coffee cups are a significant source of waste in the food industry worldwide. To counter this, HMSHost introduced the use of biodegradable cups that are not only made from 100% virgin paperboard pulp sourced from certified managed plantations, but also promote an environmental message through colourful artwork by a local indigenous Australian artist, and contribute to the reforestation of local rainforest by being repurposed as seedling pots.

Ms Mai Vu Binh Minh (Jasmine), associate of HMSHost International, working at Da Nang International Airport in Vietnam, was highly commended in the category F&B Team Member of the Year. Jasmine’s journey is not one of self-promotion or self-ambition, it is a story of sacrifice and dedication, motivated by selflessness, in which she tackles life head on and always with a smile.

Adda Amrani, associate of HMSHost International, working at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, was highly commended in the category F&B Team Member of the Year. Adda’s 28 years of experience serving guests at Schiphol has given him a wealth of knowledge. For the new and younger employees, Adda is the example of how you can express and create a feeling of hospitality to our guests in practice. He embraces our guests in a beautifully subdued and yet very warm way.

Murali Murthy Gantashala, associate of HMSHost International, working at various airports in India, was highly commended in the category Airport Chef of the Year. Since 2008 he has been committed to HMSHost India, offering a memorable culinary experience for our passengers. He excels in reliability, and performs the promised service dependably and accurately. Above all, Murali is responsible, owns up to things well and he truly surpasses expectations.
