• Expanding partnership from 16 to 27 Food & Beverage locations • Contract for 7 years with estimated turnover of 146 million euro
Schiphol, October 25 2018 – HMSHost International, global market leader in the food and hospitality industry for people on the move, has won the tender issued by Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. It opens up the way to create 7 new Food & Beverage locations in the new domestic boarding hall, 1 landside restaurant and 3 staff locations and to further enhance many of the 16 locations that have been operating since 2012. All 27 Food & Beverage locations will be fully operational as of mid-2019. The new contract will have a duration of 7 years and generates an estimated total turnover of 146 million euro (including incremental sales of 105 million euro).
A well-balanced mix of concepts
With a very strong annual growth of passenger traffic, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is regularly one of the fastest growing international airports since 2008. The new business was tendered for the newly built domestic boarding hall. The well-balanced mix intended for the new pier was created by taking into account the different visiting areas and the customer mindset that goes with them. Strong international brands such as KFC and Starbucks are located centrally in the different areas to function as a crowd-pleaser, whereas Qfta and the iconic 40 Degrees Bar & Brewery appeal to the needs of local customers. In addition, a strong selection of internationally renowned HMSHost concepts such as Puro Gusto, Kiosco and Kiosk provide a more tailored and personal menu in smaller footprint locations. All in all, a wide variety of concepts that appeal to local travellers as well as travellers from different time zones with different appetites. The new landside restaurant will be Happy Moons, a famous Istanbul dining concept appealing to a wide variety of needs and dining moments in the landside departures area of the terminal.
A successful partnership
HMSHost International partners with Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport since 2012 and has been operating 16 different Food & Beverage locations, among which Starbucks, since that time. Its personal approach that makes travellers feel at home at any moment perfectly matches the airport’s mission that focuses on guest satisfaction, quality and high efficiency. Walter Seib, CEO of HMSHost International, is grateful that Sabiha Gökçen chooses to expand their partnership: “We are proud of the cooperation, the trust and the performance of our partnership and are looking forward to an even longer and more successful cooperation for many years to come. Together we make our guests feel good on the move.”
Ersel Göral, the CEO of Sabiha Gökçen Airport terminal operator ISG, also stated that they have been cooperating with HMSHost for about 6 years and said: "HMSHost is an important business partner. This cooperation will become even more meaningful, along with the commercial areas in the newly opened domestic boarding hall."
